4: Redesign a Book Cover

It seems that the past few days have seen me take a more design-oriented approach to the art as opposed to a traditional painting approach.

Today’s challenge is “Redesign a Book Cover”.  I chose Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami.  He’s definitely my favorite author of all time, but trying to decide on a favorite book by him is a toss up between three or four.

I really like the color choices on the “Vintage” pressing of Kafka, but I never liked the cover itself.  The illustration made no sense to me.  I re-used the colors but took the visuals in a direction I felt more appropriate.  If you haven’t read the book, then this won’t make much sense.  I encourage you to read the book though; it’s quite fantastic.

Seriously; READ THIS BOOK.
